Profile of the Imaging & Media Lab

The "Image & Media Lab" (IML) is a research institute of the faculty of Humanities of the University of Basle. The research profile of the IML is centered around the field of "Digital Humanities" at the intersection of computer science, digital imaging, digital photograph and the Humanities. The research mainly concentrates on the different aspects of "digital sources" and their use in Humanities with the following topics:

• Genesis / digitization
• Use / Crosslinking
• Archiving / long-term preservation

At the center of the research is the development of new tools and methods as well as the reflection about the implications of these to humanities' research.
